| On May 5, 1983, this magnificent Burr Oak towering over the entrance to the Andrew Drumm Institute, was cut down to widen Lee's Summit Road. The Stone entrance that was there in 1919, was removed at that time, and according to Mr. Berkemeier, it was to be replaced by the city of Independence but never was. |

The Andrew Drumm Institute Founded in Jackson County, Independence, Missouri, in 1928 by Major Andrew Drumm (1828 - 1919) This web site is dedicated to preserve the memory of Major and Mrs. Andrew Drumm, who gave so much to society in general and to needy boys in particular. The work ethics and values instilled in boys at Drumm opened many doors of opportunity and achievements.
